On Monday, January 21st, 2008 President Mary McAleese
launched the Northside and Southside Regeneration Vision
Plans in Moyross and Southill, as a prelude to the 'Master'
Plans. There was very little real consultation with the
communities in producing these documents, although the
Agencies claim otherwise.
The 'Master'
Plans were presented to and unanimously accepted by Limerick
City Council on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008.
Although they
are referred to as the "Master Plans", the document
produced by the Regeneration Agencies is nothing of the
sort and this is reflected in its actual title, "Limerick
Regeneration: A Vision For Moyross, Southill & Ballinacurra
Weston and St. Mary's Park."
This document
is in fact a draft proposal for regeneration and as such
it is subject to change. Its implementation is dependent
on a strong economy and a high demand for housing.
